Fatima Jinnah Women University holds transport safety workshop in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI — Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) organized a professionalization workshop on transport safety and operational standards on Monday, bringing together university drivers, faculty and administrative staff in response to evolving traffic conditions in the twin cities.

The session, arranged by the university’s Transport Office, focused on improving professional conduct, regulatory compliance and vehicle safety to ensure secure transportation services for female students and staff.

The workshop addressed key areas including communication skills, transport record management, vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic safety protocols. Director Transport Prof. Dr. Muhammad Bilal emphasized the importance of discipline, workplace ethics and service-oriented practices in maintaining reliable campus transport operations.

Registrar Naseem Akhtar spoke on professional communication and service standards, while Dr. Fiaz Hussain, Chairperson of the Department of Public Policy, provided guidance on operational compliance and documentation.

Officials from the Education Branch of the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi, led by Inspector Faisal Gilani, briefed participants on responsible driving practices, traffic monitoring systems, common violations and preventive measures.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Bilal thanked Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza for supporting efforts to modernize the university’s transport office. He also acknowledged the role of the University Security Office under Col. (R) Ali Irtaza and the transport staff for their coordination with traffic authorities.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants.
