Typically, a woman realizes she is pregnant within a month or two, and by the time the baby is born, everyone around her knows. But could it be possible for a woman to be unaware of her pregnancy for 8 or 9 months, only discovering it when she visits the hospital for treatment of another condition? This rare phenomenon recently occurred in China.
According to a report by South China Morning Post, a 36-year-old woman from eastern China, named Gong (full name not disclosed), found out she was pregnant just 4 hours before giving birth. She was admitted to Zhejiang People’s Hospital with high blood pressure. However, during the examination, doctors discovered that she was already 8 months pregnant.
This revelation was shocking to the woman and her husband, as the doctors had previously stated that the chances of her having a baby were slim. As a result, the weight gain was overlooked, and the doctors had never considered the possibility of pregnancy.
In early December 2024, the woman sought medical attention for numbness in her arm, and an ultrasound revealed the pregnancy. Just four hours later, she gave birth to a baby boy weighing 2 kilograms.
