Renowned TV anchor Ayesha Jahanzeb has announced her decision to propose to her husband Haris Ali for khula.
Ayesha Jahanzeb, who appeared in court to give a statement on her husband’s bail application, revealed that an agreement had been reached with the family dignitaries regarding the custody of their children.
During the proceedings before Additional Sessions Judge Arshad Mahmood, Jahanzeb said that she had arranged with her family dignitaries which resulted in her not objecting to the bail of accused Haris Ali.
The presenter expressed her deep disappointment at the situation, but acknowledged the agreed resolution, saying: “What happened is very cruel and should not happen to any woman.
Responding to Jahanzeb’s statement, Justice Mahmood asked whether the reconciliation was done voluntarily.
After her testimony, the court granted bail to Haris Ali. The Sarwar Road police station has registered a case against Ali in connection with the matter.
In a subsequent statement, Sama Jahanzeb revealed her intention to pursue the khula and seek custody of her children. She confirmed that the agreement made with the family dignitaries includes the non-development of legal steps for the handover of the children and emphasized that cohabitation with her husband has become unsustainable.
Jahanzeb’s defense attorney confirmed that the intervention of family dignitaries led to the custody order, thereby waiving further court proceedings in the case.
