A cowardly attempt by terrorists to attack Cantonment Bannu early this morning was foiled by a swift and effective response by security forces, according to reliable sources.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:40 am when terrorists detonated a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the road between the outer wall of Bannu Cantonment and a supply depot. The blast was to create an entry point for terrorists to infiltrate the secure area, the sources added.
However, they said the vigilant security personnel stationed at the Cantonment responded immediately, effectively cornering the attackers and preventing them from breaching the perimeter. Timely action by the security forces ensured that the terrorists’ plans were thwarted before they could cause further damage.
“The effective action cornered the terrorists,” the sources said, highlighting the professionalism and preparedness of the security forces in dealing with this threat.
After the failed attack, security forces launched a comprehensive clearance operation to ensure there were no remaining threats in the area. The operation is ongoing and the authorities are determined to fully secure the cantonment and prevent any future attempts of this kind.
