Omar Ayub, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, announced that Zartaj Gul has been appointed as the new parliamentary leader on behalf of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in the National Assembly.
In a statement, Omar Ayub confirmed that Zain Qureshi and Ahmed Chatta will be the deputy leaders of the parliament along with Zartaj Gul.
Ayub also said that Zartaj Gul’s inauguration was approved by PTI founder Imran Khan. The decision came after four potential candidates, including Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Mehboob Soltan, Zain Qureshi, and Ahmed Chatta, had earlier submitted proposals to the PTI.
Zartaj Gul’s appointment is seen as a step to strengthen the opposition’s presence and leadership in the National Assembly as the PTI continues to shape Pakistan’s political landscape.
Opposition strategists, led by Zartaj Gul and supported by Zain Qureshi and Ahmed Chatta, aim to consolidate their efforts in the National Assembly. This leadership team is expected to shift the opposition agenda and improve legislative effectiveness.
