Eid al-Fitr takes place in the corridors of Lahore Children’s Hospital, where the air often echoes with the sounds of medical aid and whispers of hope. Despite the challenges faced by elderly patients and their families, the hospital was filled with a spirit of celebration and tolerance.
Decorated with colorful decorations and Eid al-Fitr greetings, the hospital became a sanctuary of happiness and hospitality. Led by Dr. Ammara Fayaz, also known as Dr. Ain Fay, Youth Care Volunteer organized a day full of laughter, fun and good times.
“The purpose of the holiday is to spread happiness, especially in difficult times,” said Dr Ain Fay, who stressed the importance of raising spirits during the Eid season.
Jalil, whose son was hospitalized, expressed his gratitude for the sense of community he had created. “Even though it’s far from home, the hospital has become our big family.”
One of the highlights of the day was a public game in the hospital lobby where patients and their parents agreed to enjoy the joy of playtime. Remote-controlled cars, Mickey Mouse kisses young faces, and team members engage in friendly competition to create magical entertainment.
“It is very sad that the children forget about their health problems and embrace the joy of the festival,” said Ahmad, a volunteer of the Youth Association.
At Lahore Children’s Hospital, Eid-ul-Fitr not only brings smiles to young patients and their families, but is also a testament to the power of collective action to create positive change. Over the past year, Youth Care has continued to brighten the lives of those in need, spreading hope and healing to the communities it serves.
Founded in 2013 as a non-profit organization, Youth Concerns has been spreading joy and hope through annual prizes and celebrations for the past ten years. In addition, the organization has been actively involved in public health initiatives such as organizing medical camps for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and AIDS screening.
Dr Ain Fay looks forward to her 10th birthday and shares her inspiring vision for the future. In an effort to welcome young patients on Eid, Youth Care plans to launch food carts in the coming months, offering free meals to the poor. These initiatives include the organization’s commitment to serving the community and fostering a culture of compassion and support.
