Most Hollywood celebrities showed up at the 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater wearing red badges to show their support for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The badge has a striking design with a red circle, an orange-striped open hand, and a black heart in the middle.
Celebrities including Billie Eilish, Ramy Youssef, and Mark Ruffalo wore badges in support of Artists4Ceasefire, a group of artists who signed an open letter to US President Joe Biden calling for immediate de-escalation and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The letter was signed by more than 400 actors including Bradley Cooper, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Drake, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Lopez. “The pin symbolizes collective support for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza,” the letter said.
