Popular Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram, who has played a funny part in the T20 World Cup team in India, said they will have no reason to be tired in the upcoming tournament.
Akram’s comments came after the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) final, where not a single Indian player was included in the World Cup squad.
Speaking to Sportskeeda Cricket, Akram joked, “At least this time the Indian players will not say they are tired. They are thinking ahead, putting the country first in the IPL final.” “For India, it could be a blessing in disguise,” he said.
Akram had earlier expressed concern about the fatigue of the Indian team due to their IPL schedule. However, with the first team players, including captain Rohit Sharma, leaving for the United States on Saturday, Akram is confident he will have enough time to recover. “T20, that boy will survive. The level of fitness is high these days.”
India have Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Ashashvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and others in the T20 World Cup. In the group stage, they will meet Ireland, Pakistan, USA and Canada from June 5 in New York.
