MURREE: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Murree has taken an important step to strengthen emergency preparedness by installing 10 fire hydrants at key locations across Murree.
The newly installed hydrants are intended to ensure the immediate availability of water in the event of fires and other emergencies, enabling rescue and emergency response teams to operate more efficiently.
According to WASA Murree, all 10 fire hydrants have been verified by Rescue 1122, while a practical mock exercise was also conducted to assess their functionality and ensure that water can be accessed promptly during an emergency.
The fire hydrants have been installed at the following locations:
Simatry Road
Kashmir Point
Mochi Mandi
Marhaba Chowk
Near Old Check Post
Near Educators School
Siddique Chowk
Nighat Zar Park
Mall Road
Cart Road
The initiative is particularly significant for Murree, which receives a large number of local and international tourists throughout the year. Quick access to water can play a critical role in controlling fires and supporting rescue operations in the hill station’s densely populated and commercially active areas.
WASA Murree said the measure reflects its commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents, visitors and tourists.
The agency further reaffirmed its readiness to respond to emergencies in coordination with the district administration and rescue services, emphasizing continued cooperation and coordination to strengthen public safety and emergency preparedness in Murree.
