Islamabad: – The launch event of Pakistan’s most awaited film Umro Aiyar – A New Beginning at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) on Monday thrilled the audience. Held in the main hall of the university, the event was witnessed by a large number of enthusiastic students, faculty, staff and their families who came to meet the cast and crew of VR Chilli Production.
Inspired by Hamzanama and some scenes filmed at NUST, Umro Aiyar, debuting in Pakistan, promises a visual and narrative twist, bringing to life the legendary events of the brilliant trickster. The film launch event at the university was marked by an interesting panel discussion, an interesting trailer screening and an interactive question and answer session.
The event was warmly welcomed by the chief guest, NUST Pro-Chancellor Planning and Resources, Major General (Retd) Muhammad Arif Malik, HI(M). In his speech, he thanked the ‘Umro Aiyar’ group who have been in the NUM. He called the production a perfect blend of technological and creative prowess of the film industry and a testament to the richness of our cultural heritage.
After the welcome speech, film director Azfar Jafferi shared about the making of ‘Umro Aiyar’. He said they put their heart and soul into making a film that is true to their roots while offering something new and exciting to the audience. He further said that his aim is to rekindle the magic of these timeless tales for young and old alike.
The show’s main event was thunderous applause when the film’s lead actor took the stage. Among them Usman Mukhtar, Sana Fakhar and Faran Tahir. The actors share their experiences and challenges in portraying such iconic characters. “Playing Umro Aiyar is a dream come true and as soon as Azfar (film director) offered me, I immediately accepted the challenge. This is a role that requires intelligence, agility and a deep understanding of the essence of the character,” said Usman Mukhtar.
Finally, the chief guest distributed NUST mementos and certificates to the cast and crew of the film and NUST to the organizers of the event. The chief guest also presented prizes to the winners and first and second winners of the video making competition organized for NUST students.
