Toyota Pakistan Completes Million-Tree Plantation Project, Sets Sustainability Milestone

KARACHI: Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC), the manufacturer of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan, has completed its Million Tree Plantation Project, with the company describing the achievement as a first for Pakistan’s automotive industry.

The project saw one million trees planted across Pakistan as part of Toyota Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen environmental sustainability, expand green cover and create lasting value for communities.

The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Association of Pakistan (UNAP), WWF, government institutions, local communities and other partners across the country.

Toyota Pakistan said the completion of the project represents a major sustainability milestone and reflects its “Best in Town” commitment to contributing to society through practical environmental action.

The achievement was also highlighted during the company’s 35th anniversary celebrations, attended by Masahiko Maeda, CEO of Toyota’s Asia Region.

The Million Tree Plantation Project focused on translating corporate sustainability commitments into on-ground environmental action, with plantation activities involving communities and partners in different parts of the country.

Beyond the numerical milestone, the initiative is aimed at contributing to greener communities and strengthening awareness about the importance of forests and trees in addressing environmental challenges.

Trees play an important role in improving local environments, supporting biodiversity, reducing soil erosion and contributing to climate resilience. However, the long-term environmental impact of plantation programmes also depends on the survival and continued care of planted trees.

Toyota Pakistan said the completion of the million-tree target represents another step towards its broader sustainability goals and its efforts to create positive environmental and social impacts.

The company emphasised that the initiative reflects its vision of creating value not only through its core automotive operations but also through activities that benefit people, communities and the environment.

With one million trees planted, Toyota Pakistan said it aims to continue supporting environmental initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable future for Pakistan.
