ABBOTTABAD: A two-day training programme on the “Role and Responsibilities of Negahban” was organised by the I&HRD&M Directorate under the Upper Galiyat Protected Area Project (UGPP) on October 1 and 2, 2026, for Negahban and concerned field staff of the Galiyat Forest Division.
On the first day, former Forest Conservator Tauheed ul Haq delivered lectures on the roles and responsibilities of Negahban, forest protection and conservation, and coordination with Forest Department staff. CF Watershed Raees Khan also attended the programme.
The second day focused on practical field activities. Participants visited a forest area and received hands-on guidance on forest monitoring, identifying illegal activities, reporting mechanisms and practical measures for protecting forest resources.
The training aimed to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and practical capacity to effectively contribute to forest conservation and sustainable forest management.
The programme highlighted the importance of trained community and field-level personnel in monitoring forests, reporting violations and supporting efforts to protect valuable forest ecosystems.
