G-10/4 Sewerage Contamination Prompts Emergency Water Department Action

ISLAMABAD: The Director General Islamabad Water, Sardar Khan Zamri, made an emergency visit to G-10/4 after residents of Street 75 reported sewage-contaminated water entering the drinking water supply.

During the visit, the DG Water inspected the ongoing repair work and sought a progress report from the field staff. He also met affected residents to understand the situation and hear their concerns directly.

To provide immediate relief to residents, the DG Water directed the department to take several measures until the problem is fully resolved.

Free water tankers are to be provided to affected residents to ensure access to safe drinking water during the repair work.

He also directed officials to replace the water-supply pipeline immediately if inspection confirms that it is corroded, damaged or deteriorated.

The relevant field staff were instructed to treat the issue as a priority and use all available resources to resolve the contamination problem as quickly as possible.

Residents of G-10/4 thanked the DG Water for visiting the affected area and taking immediate steps to address the problem.

The incident highlights the importance of maintaining water-supply infrastructure and preventing sewage from entering drinking-water networks, as contamination can pose serious public-health risks.
