In Thailand, hundreds of same-sex couples tied the knot on the first day the new marriage equality law came into effect. After the bill was approved by Thailand’s Parliament and later endorsed by the King, it grants LGBTQ+ couples full legal, financial, and medical rights, along with adoption and inheritance rights. Prime Minister Petongtarn Shinawatra described the law as a step toward greater societal awareness of gender diversity, emphasizing that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, race, or religion, deserves equal rights to marriage and adoption, as well as respect from society.
