The early reaction of a teacher at a Saudi primary school saved the life of a child who swallowed three coins, according to a media report.
The incident took place in Al Aflaj governorate, which is about 300 km from Riyadh. The teacher noticed that one of the first graders had symptoms of suffocation and breathing problems.
She helped the boy expel the coins, which he accidentally swallowed while holding them in his mouth, Saudi news site Sabq reported. The boy’s father, Mohammed Al Dousri, praised the teacher for her life-saving response.
“In this situation, I thank the teacher for her immediate care and expertise, which was the reason for saving my son’s life by Allah,” he said. Schools in Saudi Arabia reopened their doors for the new academic year on August 18.
