RAWALPINDI: Workers of the Suthra Punjab Agency have remained active across Rawalpindi despite ongoing monsoon rains, carrying out extensive sanitation and drainage operations to maintain cleanliness and ensure the smooth flow of rainwater in low-lying areas.
According to the agency, sanitation teams are continuously engaged in drain cleaning, waste collection, waste lifting and manual sweeping to prevent waterlogging and keep roads and public spaces clean during the rainy season.
Special cleaning arrangements have been put in place during morning and evening hours, while workers have been deployed in vulnerable areas to ensure efficient drainage and minimize inconvenience for residents.
As part of the Suthra Punjab Programme, the agency is also running a public awareness campaign during the monsoon season. Sanitation staff are distributing informational pamphlets door-to-door and in commercial markets, urging citizens not to dump household waste or construction debris into drains.
Managing Director of the Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi and Chief Executive Officer of the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company, Rana Sajid Safdar, said maintaining sanitation services during rainfall remained the agency’s top priority.
He said field teams were working around the clock to ensure effective drainage in low-lying areas, while the awareness campaign was also promoting the use of the 1139 helpline for timely registration of sanitation-related complaints.
He appealed to residents to dispose of waste in designated containers or hand it over to sanitation workers, avoid throwing garbage or construction debris into drains, cooperate in keeping the city clean, and contact the 1139 helpline to report any sanitation-related issues.
