A smartphone with specific safety features and monitoring capabilities has been introduced for children in the UK for the first time.
According to the American company, this setup provides children with an attractive alternative, which is better than a simple mobile phone (which they may not like) or a highly advanced smartphone that lacks safety features.
The Pinwheel device allows parents to monitor their children’s text messages and call history, as well as set app and chat time limits, even from a distance.
Growing concerns about the impact of social media platforms and general screen time on children’s physical and mental health have prompted phone manufacturers and online platforms to rethink parent control options and safety features in recent years.
However, to address this issue, parents usually need to create an account on the platform or use a similar device. But Pinwheel says that parents can monitor their device through a central online portal, which can be accessed from a desktop or mobile, and can adjust settings over time, unlocking more features as their children grow.
