Washington: A recent study has shown that smoking shrinks the size of the brain.
Researchers at Washington University School of Medicine have revealed in their recent study that in people who smoke, the brain size becomes smaller after a period of time.
A reduced brain volume is linked to many cognitive problems such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. The research also revealed that although quitting smoking can prevent further damage, the part of the brain that has been destroyed cannot be regenerated.
Experts were aware of the lung damage of smoking, but little was known about its effects on the brain.
