LAHORE – It was a proud moment for the country as Pakistani Shahid Chaudhry was appointed as a judge of the Canadian High Courts.
Chaudhry became the first Pakistani to be named in an Ontario court.
His wife Maliha Shahid also serves as the Deputy Mayor of Whitby, a city in Canada.
Shahid Chaudhry, who took over the responsibility of Magistrate, moved to Canada about 25 years ago.
Originally from Burewala, Punjab, he completed his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
Justice Shahid Chaudhry completed his postgraduate studies at Osgoode Hall Law School in Canada.
He was a member of various committees of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Justice Chaudhry also served as a consultant on Canadian immigration and citizenship laws in 2011.
