Famous singer and actress Selena Gomez has shared an emotional video on social media expressing her sorrow over U.S. President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, which quickly went viral.
In her Instagram story, Selena posted a heartfelt video in which she tearfully spoke about witnessing the suffering of her people due to Trump’s immigration policies. The 32-year-old actress added the Mexican flag emoji and captioned the video with “I’m sorry.”
In the video, Selena shared her helplessness regarding the immigration issue, saying, “My people, especially children and women, are being attacked. I can’t do anything, but I will try my best.”
Although the video was deleted shortly after, it had already gone viral. Following the backlash from her first post, Selena shared another message, writing, “Maybe showing empathy for others is seen as wrong.” This second message seemed to address the criticism surrounding her previous statement.
Selena’s post came after a recent operation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which resulted in the arrest of 956 individuals over three days. Selena, an advocate for immigration rights, produced the 2019 Netflix documentary “Living Undocumented,” which shared the immigration journey of her family, including the story of her grandfather, grandmother, and father’s journey to the U.S.
