Selby considers retirement after 'pathetic' world championship exit

Sheffield (United Kingdom):- Four-time snooker world champion Mark Selby is considering retirement after being beaten 10-6 by Joe O’Connor at the World Championships on Monday.

The setback ended a poor season for Selby, who is ranked fifth in the world.

O’Connor, who plays singles at The Crucible, raced to a 7-2 lead in the first session on Sunday and secured the biggest win of his career despite a rally from one of snooker’s heroes.

“I’m going to sit down with (wife) Vicki and see what her options are,” Selby said.

“All I want to do is go out there and have fun and it’s always life or death for me; I’m always like that, I put too much pressure on myself and try too hard.”
