Section 144 Imposed at All Dams in Karak as Rising Water Levels Trigger Safety Measures

Karak: The district administration in Karak has imposed Section 144 at all dams across the district, banning recreational activities for 30 days following a sharp rise in water levels caused by recent heavy rainfall.

According to the district administration, activities including boating, fishing and other forms of recreation at all dams have been prohibited as a precautionary measure to protect public safety.

Officials said the decision was taken after continuous and unusually heavy rains caused water levels in the reservoirs to rise to potentially dangerous levels, increasing the risk of accidents.

The administration urged the public to avoid visiting the dams during the restriction period and strictly comply with the safety directives.

Authorities also warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the restrictions imposed under Section 144.

The temporary ban is part of broader precautionary measures being implemented in view of the ongoing monsoon season, which has brought heavy rainfall and elevated flood risks to several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
