Model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak shared her stance on some humiliating customs prevalent in wedding celebrations.
Known for her active involvement, she has criticized certain customs that perpetuate degrading portrayals.
She said this in reference to weddings, where people traditionally throw wads of money into the air.
This act symbolizes wealth and is meant to be given to those less fortunate.
However, Saheefa Jabbar strongly rejects this tradition. She said: “It is the happiest day of your life and your family.
“I understand that I wish for nothing but a lifetime of happiness and a great future.
I would like to add that this does not have to include the less privileged individuals who collect money from the land and bow down to you.’
According to her, the sight of individuals struggling for money perpetuates the undignified and humiliating portrayal of the needy.
She continued: “When you have millions of followers on different platforms, it’s important to be responsible.
“Ending such customs and traditions is something we people of influence should focus on and the responsibility lies with you.”
She has voiced her concerns about similar matters in the past and is highly respected by viewers for her sensitivity.
One person said, “This is why I love Saheefa. He always talks about important things that no one pays much attention to.’
Another wrote: “They did this at my wedding too.
“I feel so guilty when I remember the little kids, barefoot, trying to get the money before someone else does.”
