In the United States, there is a fast food restaurant that has been frying its meat in oil that’s over 100 years old. Dyer’s Burgers, located in Memphis, Tennessee, has been using this century-old oil for frying its burgers. The restaurant claims that this oil makes their burgers taste uniquely delicious.
Elmer Dyer, the founder of the restaurant, opened it in 1912 in Memphis and used a secret spice blend to make the burgers flavorful. The burgers became quite popular, but one night, one of the cooks forgot to change the oil in the frying pot. The current owner, Kendall Robertson, claims that the next day, an employee made a burger for a customer using the same oil. After tasting the burger, the customer said it was the best burger they had ever had. Since then, the oil has never been changed, and all the burgers are fried in this same old oil.
