RDA Intensifies Dengue Surveillance Across Rawalpindi Housing Schemes

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified dengue prevention and surveillance activities in areas under its jurisdiction following directions from Rawalpindi Commissioner and RDA Director General Salman Ghani.

As part of the intensified campaign, field inspections were conducted in Bahria Town and Gulrez Housing Scheme to assess ongoing dengue control measures and ensure compliance with prescribed health and safety protocols.

The inspection was carried out under the supervision of RDA Additional Director General Masood Ahmed Bukhari, with teams conducting on-site checks of both indoor and outdoor dengue prevention activities.

Officials reviewed the quality of dengue control measures, implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), field teams’ presence and the effectiveness of regular surveillance activities.

The Additional DG directed field teams to ensure the immediate identification and elimination of potential mosquito breeding sites, while maintaining regular surveillance across residential and other relevant areas.

Authorities also stressed the need for effective field presence and continuous monitoring to prevent the spread of dengue, particularly during the period when conditions can favour mosquito breeding.

The RDA has decided to continue regular field inspections and monitoring of dengue control activities in areas under its jurisdiction.

Officials said strict compliance with prescribed SOPs would be ensured and dengue prevention measures would be further strengthened to protect public health and minimise the risk of dengue transmission in Rawalpindi.
