FAISALABAD: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Faisalabad has taken enforcement action against two brick kilns in Chak 420 GB, Tandlianwala, for alleged violations of environmental standards as part of ongoing efforts to control air pollution and combat smog.

Assistant Director Environment Ammar Hassan led the operation alongside the EPA Faisalabad team to check compliance with environmental regulations and prescribed brick kiln standards.

During the inspection, officials found that one brick kiln was operating without zigzag technology and emitting black smoke. The authorities demolished illegal brick stacking at the site and imposed a fine for the reported violations.

At the second brick kiln, the EPA registered a first information report (FIR) over alleged environmental violations.

Crackdown on Smoke Emissions

The operation forms part of the agency’s broader enforcement campaign to curb air pollution, reduce black smoke emissions and ensure that brick kilns comply with applicable environmental requirements.

Brick kilns that use non-compliant technologies or emit excessive smoke can contribute to poor air quality, particularly during the smog season, when atmospheric conditions may allow pollutants to accumulate.
