RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi district administration has launched a comprehensive cleanup campaign along the green belt of Kallar Syedan Road (Shahrah-e-Kashmir) to improve public safety, enhance road visibility, and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
The operation involves the removal of overgrown bushes, wild vegetation, and unnecessary plants from the central green belt, which had become a safety hazard for motorists and pedestrians.
According to officials, the dense vegetation had reduced visibility for road users, increasing the risk of traffic accidents. The overgrowth had also become a breeding ground for snakes and other harmful reptiles, posing a threat to nearby residents and commuters.
The cleanup campaign is being carried out on the special directives of the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi and the Assistant Commissioner Saddar, with field teams working to restore the green belt and improve the overall condition of the busy roadway.
Residents and commuters have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely step toward improving road safety and maintaining a cleaner urban environment. They expressed hope that similar public welfare and maintenance activities would continue across the district to ensure safer and more accessible public spaces.
