RAWALPINDI, September 14, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Nadeem Nasir has ordered round-the-clock monitoring of Nallah Lai to prevent illegal dumping and directed authorities to take strict legal action against those involved in the practice.
The deputy commissioner ordered that dumpers and other vehicles found involved in dumping waste and material into Nallah Lai should be impounded and FIRs registered against their owners or operators.
He made it clear that illegal dumping into Nallah Lai would not be tolerated and directed Safe City authorities to ensure 24-hour surveillance of different locations along the drain to identify and monitor activities linked to illegal dumping.
The deputy commissioner further directed the relevant departments to take indiscriminate legal action against individuals and groups found involved in dumping and ensure effective enforcement without exception.
He also ordered authorities to ensure the immediate vacation of land belonging to owners who have already received compensation. In cases where land transfers have been completed or are still pending, the relevant legal requirements should be fulfilled and the process of vacation carried out accordingly.
Nadeem Nasir stressed that no negligence would be tolerated in measures aimed at cleaning and widening Nallah Lai. He directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination and take effective measures for the protection, rehabilitation and improved management of the drainage system.
The directives are aimed at reducing illegal dumping, improving the flow and capacity of Nallah Lai and strengthening measures to reduce the risk of urban flooding in Rawalpindi.
