RAWALPINDI: Heaps of garbage lying along the main road in Dhok Syedan Cantonment have highlighted apparent sanitation lapses by the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) ahead of a Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat rally being organised in connection with 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.
According to local residents, the garbage has been lying along the main road for several days without proper removal, creating an unsightly and unhygienic environment on a route expected to witness increased public movement during the religious occasion.
Residents expressed concern over the lack of timely sanitation arrangements and questioned the Cantonment Board’s preparedness to maintain cleanliness along important roads and public spaces.
The accumulated waste on the main thoroughfare has also become a source of inconvenience for pedestrians and motorists, while residents fear that the situation could worsen with increased public activity during the rally.
Citizens have urged the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board to take immediate notice of the situation, remove the accumulated garbage and ensure proper cleaning of the rally route before 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.
They further called for regular monitoring of sanitation services so that waste is not allowed to remain unattended for several days.
The residents stressed that maintaining cleanliness around religious gathering routes is not only essential for public convenience but also reflects the effectiveness of civic and sanitation services in the cantonment area.
