A rare 17th-century silver coin has been auctioned for a record price of 25.2 million dollars (over 690 million Pakistani rupees).
The coin was discovered eight years ago in an old cabinet in Amsterdam.
This coin, minted in 1652, was produced in the American city of Boston during a time when the United States had not yet been established and the region was still under British control.
The coin had been in the cabinet for more than three centuries and was found in 2016.
According to a statement from Stoxx Bouwer Galleries, the owner of the coin did not realize its value when it was discovered. In fact, the owner only became aware of its worth after researching the Roman numerals on the coin.
The coin weighs 1.1 grams, and the silver used in it is valued at the current rate of 1.03 dollars. However, due to its rarity and historical significance, it set a new sales record.
