CHICAGO: Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, held an interactive session with Pakistani-American youth, community leaders, and representatives of educational institutions and professional networks at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago.
Upon his arrival, Rana Mashhood met Consul General of Pakistan in Chicago, General Zaman Mehdi, to discuss strengthening collaboration with the Pakistani diaspora in the fields of youth empowerment, education, skills development, innovation, entrepreneurship and investment.
In his welcome address, Consul General Zaman Mehdi described Pakistan’s young population as the country’s greatest asset and underscored the important role overseas Pakistani youth can play in promoting educational and professional linkages. He said greater engagement with the diaspora would encourage the exchange of knowledge, innovation and investment, creating long-term benefits for both Pakistan and host communities.
Addressing the gathering, Rana Mashhood outlined the government’s vision for empowering young people through the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme. He highlighted the programme’s four key pillars: Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Engagement, and Environment.
He also briefed participants on flagship initiatives, including the Digital Youth Hub, skills development programmes, business and agriculture financing, scholarships, sports promotion and youth leadership opportunities. He invited members of the Pakistani-American community to partner with the PMYP in creating greater opportunities for Pakistan’s youth.
The PMYP Youth Focal Person delivered a detailed presentation on the programme’s ongoing initiatives and discussed potential collaboration with universities, industry partners and the Pakistani-American community to enhance skills development and create international career pathways for young Pakistanis.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants exchanged ideas on strengthening youth engagement and expanding cooperation between Pakistan and its overseas community. Community representatives also presented souvenirs to Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan in recognition of his visit and commitment to youth empowerment.
