LAHORE: The Punjab Wildlife Department has rescued a pair of white lion cubs from Lahore’s Kahna area and shifted them to the Lahore Safari Zoo as part of its ongoing campaign against illegal wildlife activities across the province.
According to a department spokesperson, the rescue operation was carried out successfully, and the cubs are now under the care of wildlife experts at the Safari Zoo, where they will receive proper treatment and protection.
In a separate operation in Multan, wildlife authorities fined a suspect Rs50,000 for illegally trading exotic birds.
In Rajanpur, officials arrested a man for illegally hunting doves and imposed a Rs15,000 departmental fine.
The spokesperson said the enforcement actions in Lahore, Multan and Rajanpur led to the recovery of Rs65,000 in fines from two offenders.
In another operation, Wildlife Rangers in Mianwali stopped an illegal partridge-fighting tournament, reaffirming the department’s commitment to protecting wildlife and taking strict action against violations of conservation laws.
