The Punjab Police successfully foiled a terrorist attack by a gang of 12 to 13 militants at the Qabul Khan Checkpost in Mianwali during the early hours of Monday.
The attackers, armed with advanced weapons, launched an attack on the border crossing with the aim of breaching the security arrangements and creating chaos in the area.
A Punjab Police spokesperson revealed that the militants engaged in heavy firing using state-of-the-art firearms. However, the quick and strategic action of the police, supported by cutting-edge technology, effectively stopped the attack.
“Officers on duty used strategic measures and advanced technology to thwart the attack,” the spokesman said, emphasizing the authorities’ proactive stance in combating the imminent threat.
After a fierce gunfight, the gunmen managed to escape capture and fled the scene amid chaos. A spokeswoman confirmed that a thorough search operation was underway, led by the Mianwali district police officer.
“The terrorists managed to escape due to intense firing by the police personnel,” the spokesman noted, stressing the unwavering determination of the law enforcement agencies to protect the region from terrorist activities.
The Inspector General of Police, Punjab acknowledged the bravery and dedication of the personnel deployed at the border posts and highlighted their crucial role as frontline defenders in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
“Officers at the border crossings are the first line of defense against terrorism,” the IGP noted, appreciating the courage and determination shown by the police officers in protecting the national borders and ensuring the safety of the population.
As investigations continue and security measures are beefed up, the Punjab Police remains on high alert, ready to counter any further threats to peace and stability in the area.
