ISLAMABAD, August 19, 2026: President Asif Ali Zardari has paid tribute to humanitarian workers serving on the front lines during natural disasters, emergencies and crises, commending their courage, selfless service and dedication to helping vulnerable communities.
In his message on World Humanitarian Day 2026, the president said Pakistan, along with the international community, recognised the invaluable contributions of relief workers who respond to emergencies despite difficult and dangerous circumstances.
He praised their prompt response, participation in relief and rehabilitation activities, and commitment to assisting people affected by disasters and crises.
President Zardari expressed gratitude to humanitarian workers who remain prepared to assist communities during emergencies in cooperation with civil society, security forces and ordinary citizens.
He said their timely assistance and compassion provide essential support to affected and vulnerable people during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
The president observed that humanitarian workers play an important role in helping communities respond to crises and recover from their consequences. Their work, he said, reflects the fundamental values of humanity, compassion and respect for human dignity.
He added that humanitarian workers strengthen organised and professional support systems for people affected by violence, displacement, hunger, poverty, disability and deprivation.
On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day 2026, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the fundamental rights and dignity of every individual under the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 and the country’s ratified international human rights treaties.
The president also appreciated the services of social workers, counsellors, medical professionals, child protection workers and human rights and humanitarian workers serving communities across Pakistan.
Their dedication, he said, serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to support people in need and ensure that no one is left without assistance during times of crisis.
