President Asif Ali Zardari stressed the need to resolve the long-standing problems in Balochistan through political dialogue.
Speaking at a dinner hosted by the Chief Minister of Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti, the president confirmed that the development and prosperity of the province is a priority of the current government and highlighted its important role in ensuring the stability of Pakistan.
Referring to Baluchistan’s important mineral resources and vast coastline, President Zardari said that it is necessary to use these resources effectively for the development of the province.
He pledged the government’s commitment to facilitate this development, saying the eighteenth constitutional amendment is an important step in time to strengthen the province and promote national development.
Emphasizing the importance of modernizing the extraction of Baluchistan’s mineral resources, President Zardari drew attention to the untapped potential of the province’s oil and gas reserves.
He said, it is important to balance the use of natural resources with modern practices to effectively meet the economic needs of our country.
President Zardari also reiterated the government’s commitment to support vulnerable sections of society through initiatives such as the Benazir Income Support Programme.
He reaffirmed his commitment to promote inclusive growth throughout the country, intending to expand such programs to provide more assistance to low-income families.
In his closing speech, Zardari also said that he will continue his efforts for the comprehensive development of Balochistan and emphasized cooperation with the provincial government to strengthen and empower the local people.
