ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will begin its election campaign soon after unveiling its ‘ground facts’ manifesto for the February 8 elections
Senator Irfan Siddiqui, convener of the PML-N manifesto committee, told The News on Sunday that the manifesto focuses on inflation, economic revival, eradication of unemployment and poverty and improvement of governance.
He said that the manifesto will be based on basic facts and added that Nawaz Sharif has given instructions that the manifesto must be practical.
A higher-level meeting would discuss the final draft of the manifesto tomorrow (Tuesday) and approve the same as if it were a national document.
It would also provide assistance to other parties in the national interest.
He said that PML-N will set up a Monitoring and Implementation Board for the implementation of the manifesto after taking over the government to oversee the pace of implementation in letter and spirit.
Senator Siddiqui said Nawaz announced nine points during a public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan in October last year, which became part of the manifesto.
The PML-N has made a practical manifesto through a serious exercise instead of making it a showpiece and sloganeering, Senator Irfan said, adding that the PML-N would like to highlight the performance of its government during 2013-18 as another part of the manifesto.

He said 32 sub-committees were constituted to compile recommendations, while a committee of overseas Pakistanis was constituted separately.
He revealed that a portal was created to seek people’s opinions. By the way, more than 6,000 people, institutions and organizations using the device have contributed useful recommendations for the future plans of the party.
He said that no political party has practiced so frantically in preparing its manifesto and therefore the PMLN has not yet submitted the document. It took two months to make the recommendation, he added.
Senator Siddiqui recalled that certain political parties made tall promises to woo public opinion because they knew they would not come to power.
For that reason, their commitments are unrealistic and unenforceable. He assured that the manifesto of PML-N will be the guarantor of healthy changes in the light of the country and its people.
