KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Riffat Mukhtar on Monday assured Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee Chairman Zak Ashraf of “reliable” security for the country’s major tournament matches to be held in Karachi.
With the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) set to kick off on February 17, Mukhtar met the PCB chief at the Karachi Central Police Office to discuss the security arrangements regarding the conduct of PSL matches.
During the meeting, according to the statement, the top police officer reiterated that the Sindh Police has always maintained high vigilance and security for every important event at the National Stadium – where a total of 11 matches including qualifiers, two eliminators and the final will be held.

“Security matters will be handled with full professionalism and extraordinary measures in all aspects,” the IG said.
Meanwhile, Ashraf expressed complete satisfaction with the approved contingency plans for the PSL matches and expressed his gratitude to the police officer.
Ashraf further assured the assurance and affirmed the commitment of both himself and the PCB administration to cooperate in every possible collaboration.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s flagship cricket tournament will begin in Lahore with the opening match featuring two-time champions and current title holders Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad United – the 2016 and 2018 winners.
