ISLAMABAD: In a major step towards modernising Pakistan’s agriculture sector, the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and China’s leading agricultural engineering company, FAMSUN Group, have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to establish a FAMSUN Technology Display Park at PARC and strengthen cooperation in agricultural innovation, research, technology transfer and capacity building.
The Letter of Intent was signed by PARC Chairman Dr Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi and FAMSUN Group Chief Executive Officer Jack Chen.
According to officials, the agreement was made possible through the efforts of Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, with the support of the Ministry’s secretary, as part of the government’s strategy to attract international investment and advanced agricultural technologies to Pakistan.
Rana Tanveer Hussain described the agreement as a significant milestone in the government’s agenda to transform the country’s agriculture sector through global partnerships and modern technologies. He said the proposed Technology Display Park would serve as a national platform to showcase state-of-the-art agricultural engineering solutions for researchers, farmers, entrepreneurs, investors and the private sector.
The minister noted that while Pakistan possesses immense agricultural potential, increasing productivity, reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing value addition require access to advanced technologies and international expertise. He said collaboration with one of the world’s leading agricultural engineering companies would help introduce globally proven solutions, strengthen research and create new opportunities for investment and industrial cooperation.
Calling the agreement a historic achievement for PARC, Chairman Dr Syed Murtaza Hassan Andrabi said the proposed FAMSUN Technology Display Park would be the first dedicated facility of its kind at PARC, showcasing advanced agricultural engineering technologies from a globally recognised company.
He said the partnership would strengthen Pakistan’s agricultural research ecosystem by linking scientific research with modern industrial technologies, while providing researchers, students, farmers and agribusinesses with access to cutting-edge innovations, international expertise and collaborative research opportunities.
FAMSUN Group CEO Jack Chen expressed confidence in Pakistan’s agricultural potential and praised PARC’s role as the country’s premier agricultural research institution. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to building a long-term partnership through knowledge sharing, innovation and collaborative initiatives that support sustainable agricultural development.
Under the Letter of Intent, both organisations will explore the establishment of the FAMSUN Technology Display Park as a hub for technology demonstrations, joint research, professional training and collaboration among government institutions, academia, industry and investors. The initiative is also expected to facilitate knowledge exchange and accelerate the adoption of globally recognised agricultural technologies in Pakistan.
