Hot, Humid Weather to Continue Across Pakistan; Rain Forecast for Northern Regions Next Week

ISLAMABAD: Hot and humid weather is expected to persist across most parts of Pakistan over the coming week, while intermittent rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the country’s northern and upper regions, according to the latest weather outlook for July 11-18.

The forecast indicates that a westerly weather system, combined with moisture-laden southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea, will influence weather conditions across the upper and central parts of the country throughout the period.

On July 11, mainly hot and humid conditions are expected nationwide. However, isolated rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeastern Punjab and the Pothohar region.

A similar weather pattern is expected on July 12 and 13, with most parts of the country remaining hot and humid, while isolated showers and thunderstorms may occur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad, upper Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

On July 14 and 15, hot and humid conditions are expected to continue across much of the country. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are forecast mainly for Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining mountainous areas.

Weather activity is expected to intensify from July 16 onward, with scattered rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms likely across Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, northeastern and central Punjab, and northeastern Balochistan. Isolated moderate to heavy rainfall is also forecast over upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and nearby hilly areas.

On July 17, rainfall is expected to expand further, affecting upper Sindh in addition to the northern and central regions. Moderate to heavy downpours are likely over upper catchments and mountainous areas, increasing the risk of localized flooding.

A similar weather pattern is expected on July 18, with scattered rain and thunderstorms forecast in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Pothohar, northeastern Punjab, northeastern Balochistan and upper Sindh. Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated locations in upper catchment areas, while localized thunderstorms are expected elsewhere.

Authorities have advised residents, particularly those living in mountainous and flood-prone regions, to remain updated on official weather advisories as intermittent heavy rainfall may trigger localized flash flooding, landslides and travel disruptions during the forecast period.
