Pakistan Day was celebrated with fervor and zeal at the High Commission in Ottawa and at the three consulates in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
High Commissioner Mr. Zaheer A. Janjua hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistani diaspora and Canadians including Member of Parliament Mr. Sameer Naqvi. Messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read. In his message, Ambassador Janjua paid rich tributes to the founding fathers of the nation, especially Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Mohammad Iqbal, for their vision and tireless struggle for the creation of Pakistan. Highlighting the significant strides the country has made in many areas over the decades, the High Commissioner highlighted the resilience and determination of Pakistanis to face the challenges stronger.
He also acknowledged the contribution of the dynamic and vibrant Pakistani diaspora across Canada for serving as a bridge between the two countries and supporting Pakistan in their adopted homeland.
