ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) on Monday announced the successful commencement of early commercial Tight Gas production from Pakistan’s first ever Tight Gas project, Nur West Well-1 on the Nur Development & Production Lease. (D&PL) located in Sujawal district of Sindh.
Nur West Well-1 is currently producing 1.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas with a wellhead flow pressure of 1050 PSI. The gas originates from the Lower Guru (“A” Sand) Formation and has been seamlessly integrated into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network.
During drilling, initial conventional test methods did not provide favorable results, so a hydraulic fracturing technique was used to achieve production viability. This innovative approach underscores OGDCL’s commitment to research and develop advanced techniques to maximize resource potential.
This plan reaffirms the company’s commitment to expand energy resources, meet national energy requirements and promote sustainable development across Pakistan.
