Sub-Inspector Shabbir Ahmed of the Motorway Police, who lost his life in the line of duty while assisting a stranded vehicle on the Hazara Expressway. Sub-Inspector Shabbir Ahmed and Head Constable Sohail Malik were assisting a damaged vehicle near Butgram when they were struck by a negligent pick-up driver. Despite being taken to DHQ Butgram and later to AMC Abbottabad due to severe injuries, Sub-Inspector Shabbir Ahmed succumbed to his injuries and embraced martyrdom. The funeral, held with full state honors, was attended by Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police Salman Chaudhry, Additional IG North Region Yasin Farooq, senior officers, and a large number of local residents. A guard of honor was presented, underscoring the respect and honor owed to this brave officer. IG Salman Chaudhry extended condolences to the family of the martyr, who is survived by a widow, three daughters, and two sons, and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured head constable. IG Salman Chaudhry also paid tribute to the courage and dedication of Sub-Inspector Shabbir Ahmed, acknowledging the unparalleled sacrifices made by Motorway Police officers who put their lives at risk daily for public safety. He emphasized that the sacrifices of such officers will always be remembered and respected. Speaking on the occasion, IG Salman Chaudhry said that the educational expenses of children will be raised by the national highways and Motorways Police and all possible measures will be taken to deliver the prime minister martyrs’ package as soon as possible.
