A new oil and gas deposit has been discovered in Kohat, representing a major development for Pakistan’s economy. Located in the Kawargarh Formation in the Razgir-I block of the TAL, the discovery promises to significantly boost the country’s energy resources.
The newly discovered well is expected to yield 159 barrels of oil and 16.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day. This discovery represents a major milestone as it is jointly owned by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Pak Oilfields Limited (POL).
Drilling of this well began on January 9. According to the OGDCL spokesperson, the well designated as Razgir Exploratory Well 1 was drilled to a depth of 3,774 meters. Preliminary results indicate daily production of 16.4 million cubic feet of gas and 159 barrels of oil.
The new reserves are expected to contribute significantly to Pakistan’s energy sector and boost regional growth.
