LAHORE: Mohsin Naqvi, caretaker chief minister of Punjab, was elected unopposed as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday.
The chairman is elected for three years.
The vacancy in the post of chairman emerged when former PCB chief Zaka Ashraf resigned on January 19, just before his last three-month extension as interim chairman expired.
Interim Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has emerged as a strong contender for the post of chairman after being nominated as a BoG member by PCB patron last week.
The election process was overseen by Election Commissioner Shah Khawar, with a special meeting held at the esteemed National Cricket Academy, providing a fitting backdrop for this momentous event in Pakistan’s cricket administration.
The Steering Board, composed of representatives from different regions and organizations, played a key role in the decision-making process, ensuring a diverse and comprehensive representation.
