MARDAN: The District Administration Mardan has intensified its anti-encroachment campaign by removing illegal structures built over storm-water drains and natural waterways to improve drainage and reduce the risk of urban flooding during the monsoon season.
As part of the ongoing operation, authorities cleared permanent encroachments from the Koragh Drain at Doshera Chowk. The operation was personally supervised by Deputy Commissioner Wasif Rehman, while Assistant Commissioner Dr. Ahmad Sher Zaman Dogar was also present at the site.
During the drive, officials demolished illegal structures obstructing the drain to restore the natural flow of rainwater and ensure uninterrupted drainage during heavy rainfall.
The district administration said the anti-encroachment campaign has been underway for several days and will continue until all permanent encroachments on storm-water drains across the district are removed.
Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals involved in establishing illegal encroachments on public waterways.
The administration also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the operation, avoid obstructing official activities, and help keep storm-water drains free of encroachments to protect the city from flooding and improve public safety during the monsoon season.
