LODHRAN: As part of National Plantation Day celebrations, 1,200 plants were planted at the Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP) Urban Forest at 100 Chak, Lodhran, in a major initiative aimed at expanding green spaces and promoting environmental sustainability.
Deputy Commissioner Lodhran Muhammad Ashraf and Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Tayyab visited the LPP Urban Forest, where they reviewed the low-cost urban forestry model established at the site.
During the visit, the officials also inspected the LPP nursery, which has the capacity to produce up to 80,000 plants annually for plantation and environmental initiatives.
The Deputy Commissioner and ADCR, along with Dr Abdul Saboor, CEO LPP, participated in the plantation drive and planted trees in the eight-acre expansion area of the Urban Forest.
A total of 1,200 plants were planted during the day’s activities, contributing to efforts to create a greener and healthier environment in Lodhran.
Speaking during the visit, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ashraf appreciated the Lodhran Pilot Project’s efforts to promote environmental sustainability through the establishment and expansion of the Urban Forest.
He also praised the initiative of providing plants free of cost to encourage wider community participation in plantation and environmental protection activities.
The LPP Urban Forest is part of broader efforts to increase green cover, restore degraded spaces and promote nature-based solutions at the local level. Its nursery provides locally available plants that can support plantation activities across Lodhran.
The Lodhran Pilot Project reaffirmed its commitment to expanding green spaces, promoting environmental awareness and engaging local communities in building a climate-resilient and sustainable future.
