Tech company LG has unveiled a new flexible screen that can be stretched up to 18 inches in size and may eventually be used in clothing.
The company has been working on this technology for several years. The latest prototype, presented by LG’s display division, is capable of bending, folding, and stretching between 12 and 18 inches.
According to LG Display, the screen can be stretched over 10,000 times without compromising the image quality, even in harsh environments such as extreme temperatures or external shocks.
The South Korean tech firm claims this is the world’s first stretchable display, which can expand up to 50% larger than its original size.
The project was first unveiled by LG in 2022 when the screen could expand by 20% more than its original size.
