ABBOTTABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife formally launched the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 during a visit to the Shimla Hill Wildlife Display Centre.
Additional Secretary (Administration) Syed Habib-ul-Hasan Gilani, accompanied by the Conservator Wildlife and DFO Wildlife Abbottabad, visited the centre to review its conservation and management activities.
During the visit, the DFO Wildlife Abbottabad briefed the delegation on the centre’s management, wildlife conservation efforts, biodiversity protection initiatives, public awareness programmes, educational and research activities, and operational challenges.
Syed Habib-ul-Hasan Gilani appreciated the well-maintained facility and praised the staff for their professional efforts in protecting wildlife. He said such centres play an important role in conserving rare wildlife species while promoting environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and respect for natural resources among the younger generation.
To mark the launch of the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign, the Additional Secretary planted a sapling at the centre and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding tree plantation, protecting natural resources, and conserving wildlife.
He said these efforts are essential to tackling the impacts of climate change and building a greener, safer, and more sustainable Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also urged the public, especially young people, to actively participate in the tree plantation campaign and contribute to creating a healthier environment for future generations.
