ABBOTTABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser for Forests and Environment Pir Musawwir Khan visited Hazara Division, where he approved the establishment of a new check post in the Galiyat Forest Division in response to public demand and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to forest conservation, eco-tourism and environmental protection.
During his visit to Khanaspur, the adviser held an open public forum (Khuli Katcheri), listened to residents’ concerns and issued on-the-spot directives to address public issues.
Pir Musawwir Khan stressed that no-objection certificates (NOCs) for new construction projects should only be issued in accordance with legal requirements and after consultation among all relevant departments to ensure environmental safeguards.
Highlighting the province’s afforestation drive, he announced that more than 1.4 million saplings would be planted across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on August 14, urging every citizen to plant at least one tree to support environmental sustainability.
During the tour, the adviser visited the Nakpal Nursery, Dawar Watershed, and the Non-Forest Timber Product Centre, where he reviewed ongoing conservation initiatives and development projects.
He directed officials to strengthen forest protection measures, eliminate illegal logging and promote eco-tourism through sustainable management of natural resources.
Pir Musawwir Khan said protecting tourist destinations, conserving forests and addressing public concerns remain among the provincial government’s top priorities, adding that environmental conservation requires the collective participation of government institutions and the public.
