ABBOTTABAD: Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Asghar Khan chaired a high-level meeting on September 3 to review preparations for plantation activities planned for September 6, 2026, as part of Defence Day observances.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the Forest Department to coordinate preparations and ensure effective implementation of the upcoming tree-planting activities.
Participants included the Conservator of Forests, Lower Hazara Forests Circle Abbottabad; Conservator of Forest, Watershed Management Circle; Monitoring and Evaluation Officer; Divisional Forest Officer, Daur Watershed; Divisional Forest Officer, Siran Forest Division; and Divisional Forest Officer, Patrol Squad Division Abbottabad.
During the meeting, Chief Conservator Asghar Khan reviewed arrangements, coordination mechanisms and mobilisation plans for the plantation events.
The meeting emphasised the importance of ensuring active participation and proper coordination among field formations to make the September 6 plantation activities both effective and meaningful.
The plantation drive is being organised in connection with Defence Day, linking the national occasion with environmental responsibility and the protection of Pakistan’s forests and natural resources.
Forest officials also discussed preparations to ensure that plantation activities are carried out effectively and that planted trees receive appropriate care and protection after the events.
The initiative reflects the Forest Department’s continued focus on expanding green cover, strengthening community participation in plantation activities and promoting environmental stewardship across the province.
By associating tree plantation with Defence Day, the initiative also seeks to reinforce the message that protecting Pakistan’s natural environment is an important part of safeguarding the country’s future.
